The cast-iron water main break at the intersection of Washington Street and Tongass Avenue has been repaired and water service to all the affected ratepayers has been restored. The concrete pavement rerepair will be installed this afternoon. While the new concrete pavement develops it's necessary strength and before vehicle traffic can be restored, the segment of Washington Street between Tongass and 1st Avenue will remain closed until Tuesday, September 8th. "No Thru Traffic" and "Water Utility Work" signs are posted at each of these intersections. The temporary two-way traffic lanes already in place on Tongass Avenue will remain as they presently are with traffic cones installed until Tuesday, September 8th. The left turn lane off of Tongass Avenue onto Washington Street will remain closed as well as the left turn access from the Plaza onto Tongass Avenue. UPDATE - Posted: Wed. 2nd, 10:44 AM
