News Release

Structure Fire - 09/15/25

Media Information Release

Type of incident: Structure Fire

Address of incident:  5000 Block of SE Davis Loop, Prineville, Oregon

Incident date:  9/15/2025                    Alarm Time:  1502 hours

Description of occupancy:  Single Family Mobile Home

Owner, occupant:  Two occupants

Circumstances found on arrival; actions taken:  Arriving crews found a fully engulfed, detached garage/shop, that was full of ammo and reloading supplies.  The fire had spread to the nearby house, and bystanders were using garden hoses in an attempt to suppress the fire.  Crews were able to control the fire, but the home sustained significant damage.

Injuries, rescues, other information of interest:  One occupant was transported to the hospital.

Responding Apparatus:  Crook County Fire and Rescue responded with one engine, one ambulance, and one water tender, along with several support vehicles.  Redmond Fire and Rescue also responded in an engine for mutual aid.

Mutual Aid assistance by:  Redmond Fire and Rescue, Crook County Sheriff’s Office, Crook County Road Department

Probable fire cause:  Cause of the fire is under investigation

Prineville Freight Depot Fire - 08/25/25

On August 22, 2025, at approximately 1122 hours, Crook County Fire and Rescue was dispatched for a fire at the Prineville Freight Depot.  Initial reports were that a fire had started in an outside storage area, which contained a large quantity of plastic byproduct from the facilities operation.  The fire caused significant damage to the overhead electrical supply to the facility.  Fire crews were able to keep the fire from reaching any buildings on the site, and as a result, no structures were damaged.

Crook County Fire and Rescue was assisted on scene by Jefferson County EMS, Crook County Sheriff’s Office, City of Prineville Police, City of Prineville Public Works, and City of Prineville Freight Depot Staff.

The investigation is ongoing; however, the fire has been determined to be accidental.  No additional information is being released at this time.
