Sherwood lands a grant to help fund skate park - 09/26/18

The City of Sherwood has been awarded a $326,014 grant from the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) to build a 13,420 sq. ft. skate park. The Skate Park will be located at the Sherwood Family YMCA, which is owned by the City of Sherwood. “The skate park project has been a priority in Sherwood for well over a decade. After more than a few starts and stops along the way, it is exciting to have been awarded this grant to finally make it happen," said Mayor Keith Mays. The grant will cover 60% of the total project cost of $543,356. Construction is expected to begin in Spring 2019.

OPRD gives more than $4 million annually to Oregon communities for outdoor recreation projects, and has awarded nearly $50 million in grants across the state since 1999. The grants are funded from voter-approved Lottery money.
