Big News for Rose Valley and Station 24!
In July 2024, Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue reached out to the Rose Valley community with a critical need: Station 24 was in desperate need of volunteers to continue providing timely emergency response in the area. For some time, most emergencies in Rose Valley were being handled by Station 21 in Kelso. The Rose Valley community stepped up in a big way.
Seven dedicated community members answered the call and recently completed a fire academy. These volunteers have now received their certificates and pagers — a huge milestone for both them and the community.
As of Monday July 21, Cowlitz 911 started dispatching Station 24 as the first due response to all emergencies in Rose Valley.
While these new volunteer responders are wrapping up portions of their training, they are already making a difference. The Rose Valley community will continue to receive a rapid response from station 21 in Kelso, but now, it will be in conjunction with a faster initial patient care and fire suppression from responders out of station 24.
These volunteers are balancing their duties alongside full-time jobs and family commitments, and their commitment is truly commendable. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and grateful for the renewed strength in Rose Valley’s emergency response capabilities.
Thank you, Rose Valley, for stepping up- your support is saving lives.
