Two Rivers Correctional Institution Reports In-custody Death (Photo) - 09/27/18

An Oregon Department of Corrections (DOC) adult in custody, Daniel Holterman, died the morning of September 27, 2018. He was incarcerated at Two Rivers Correctional Institution (TRCI) and passed away at the hospital. As with all in-custody deaths, the Oregon State Police have been notified and the Medical Examiner will determine cause of death.

DOC takes all in-custody deaths seriously. The agency is responsible for the care and custody of 14,700 men and women who are incarcerated in the 14 institutions across the state. Holterman entered DOC custody on March 25, 1983 from Clackamas County.  His earliest release date was February 1, 2024. He was 80 years old. There were no known next of kin.

TRCI is a multi-custody facility in Umatilla that houses more than 1,800 men.  It delivers a range of correctional services and programs including education, work opportunities, and cognitive programming.  The minimum facility opened in 1998 and the medium facility opened in 2000.
