Parkinson's Resources of Oregon (PRO) will host its annual awareness walk and fundraiser, Sole Support for Parkinson’s at the Rose Quarter Commons on September 30, 2023. The annual event brings people whose lives are impacted by a Parkinson’s diagnosis together with a caring and supportive community for a walk along the riverfront spreading awareness about this neurodegenerative disease with no cure. Funds raised remain in the local community to help people living with the disease through Parkinson’s Resources (PRO) exercise, education, and wellness programs.
Resilient Sole Supporters, such as Tigard resident Caren Masem, look forward to participating year after year. Masem, a client of PRO and outspoken advocate for Parkinson’s disease awareness says “Parkinson’s disease is often overlooked as a priority concern, but it affects thousands of Oregonians! Sole Support is a great way we can learn about resources, raise awareness of this incurable disease and connect with a local community.”
People living with Parkinson’s disease and their families and supporters from across the Metro Region will participate in this year’s Portland event to show their support and spread awareness about Parkinson’s disease. Registration is required but free.
