PORTLAND, BEND, ASTORIA Ore. and VANCOUVER, Wash. – Skanska, a leading provider of construction services in the Northwest since 1946, has selected Lee Fleming as its Vendor Diversity Manager. Fleming (he/him) will be based in the company’s Portland office, serving the Pacific Northwest and beyond.

“We’ve implemented this key, strategic role companywide to illustrate our values and commitment to expand diversity and inclusion opportunities for our partners and customers,” said General Manager and Executive Vice President for Skanska’s Oregon and Southwest Washington office, Tim Johnson (he/him). “It’s important that we have a key strategic leader now who will continue to inform and engage with traditionally under-represented businesses.

Fleming’s role takes advantage of his deep experience in recruiting diverse suppliers, subcontractors and sustainability experts to achieve value-driven design and construction. He will also support diverse staffing on Skanska projects and initiatives.

“Skanska is a major contributor to our community with a strong record of partnership with historically underutilized businesses and partners,” said Fleming. “In my two decades of overseeing workforce diversity, inventory management, training and creating sustainable business practices, I know we can – together - drive social equity goals throughout our communities.”

Prior to joining Skanska, Fleming served in several leadership roles in the supplier diversity industry, most recently as the Supplier Diversity Officer at Multnomah County. Previously he was a Senior Contract Analyst at Portland Public Schools, and a Procurement Analyst for the state of Oregon. A graduate of the Tuskegee University, Fleming holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He is certified as a Professional Public Buyer and as a Compliance Administrator and holds Small Procurement and Contract Administration certifications from the state of Oregon.

“It's my job to open doors and opportunities,” added Fleming. Johnson said, “Lee will also help ensure our internal culture continues to reflect the inclusive environment we value.” # # #
