News Release
Share House Kitchen to Close on July 9 for Kitchen Remodel; Share Hot Meals Program to Continue Serving Meals at Share Day Center - 06/29/18

Vancouver, WA The kitchen at Share House will close on July 9 for an estimated eight weeks to complete a remodel of the kitchen, janitor’s closet and men and women’s bathrooms. During this time, Share’s Hot Meals program will continue to serve brown-bag meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner from the Share Day Center, 1600 W 20th St.

“To lessen the impact on the clients served through Share’s Hot Meals program, the remodel was purposefully scheduled during the warmer, dryer weather of summer when the need for a hot meal indoors is minimal,” said Diane McWithey, executive director. “A kitchen remodel will greatly improve the efficiency, capacity, and safety of the kitchen, benefiting both Share’s clients and volunteers who prepare, cook and serve meals.”

The kitchen at Share House operates 365 days a year, preparing and serving almost 92,000 meals each year.

A Kitchen Remodel Campaign was held in the month of May, raising the bulk of the estimated cost to complete the project, including a $75,000 anonymous donation from a volunteer family. An additional $45,000 remains to be raised to cover the remodel cost.
