News Release
Shooting Investigation Early Saturday Morning in Portland's Powellhurst-Gilbert Neighborhood - One Person Injured - 12/29/18

On Saturday, December 29, 2018, at 2:01 a.m., East Precinct officers responded to Lux Club PDX, located at 12436 Southeast Powell Boulevard, on the report of a disturbance with gunfire.

Officers arrived in the area of Lux Club PDX and located an adult male suffering from what was believed to be a gunshot injury. The man had been provided first aid by a community member prior to police and emergency medical personnel arriving at the scene. Emergency medical personnel transported the injured man to an area hospital by ambulance for treatment of what was believed to be a non-life-threatening injury.

As additional officers searched the area for suspects, additional injured people and evidence of gunfire, the officers located a handgun outside of Lux Club PDX. Officers also located evidence of gunfire near the intersection of Southeast Powell Boulevard and Southeast Powell Court. No other persons with injuries as a result of this disturbance and shooting were located at the scene or are known to have arrived at area hospitals.

Based on the preliminary information, officers believe a disturbance occurred inside Lux Club PDX and the people in the disturbance moved outside. Once outside of the location, the people involved in the disturbance continued to fight and at some point there was gunfire.

At this time in the investigation, investigators do not believe there was a danger posed to the public in relation to the incident. This investigation is ongoing and additional information will be provided as it is learned.

Members with the Portland Police Bureau Tactical Operation Division's Gun Violence Response Team responded to assume the investigation. Criminalists with the Forensic Evidence Division also responded to assist with the investigation
